Business Laptops and Keeping them Running

Laptops are quite amazing things to have. They allow us to work on them in an inordinate amount of places, on the garden at home or even whilst we are on holiday. But just how safe are laptops against the large number of risks they face? Clearly you are able to buy things like bags to protect your laptop, but were you aware that you can also buy specific, laptop insurance?

Laptop insurance gives your laptop the added ‘layer’ of protection that you need for your laptop. It works on the principle of any normal insurance, that if you break your laptop you are subsequently able to claim for the cost of a replacement.  Often people use their home insurance policy to cover their laptop, without realising that, upon claiming their premium subsequently increases.

Laptops are essential for the majority of business functionality. Without them many operations would grind to a halt, and therefore, laptop computer insurance should be considered to help the smooth flow of the business operation. Altough home insurance does provide some cover, specialist, pc insurance cover would subsequently offer specific damage and enable you to get a new laptop computer in the event of a claim.

Something you need to look for with your insurance premium is that is offers you liquid protection for your laptop. This is one of the most common risks that can befall a laptop as people drink tea or coffee next to their laptop and then spill the drink all over it. If you have the laptop cover in place that includes liquid cover for your laptop, then you can be assured that if you had to make a claim you would be reimbursed.

If you were going on holiday then you should look at your travel insurance policy to see if it offers you protection. If it does then just what coverage would it afford you whilst you were away on your travels? Another key benefit of laptop insurance is that you will get specific, comprehensive laptop insurance cover even whilst you are on holiday, should you wish to take your laptop with you.

Theft is a real risk to laptops and the risk of theft is now on the rise in many different areas. Laptop insurance actually offers you protection for theft coverage. However, despite this, you should always ensure your laptop is kept safe by ensuring it is not put on view for potential criminals to steal it from your car.

So, laptop insurance does have many benefits. It gives you a level of protection that you many not ordinarily get from traditional home insurance policies. For a small monthly payment you can often avoid the chance of having to pay more on your premiums by looking around online and then taking out a laptop insurance policy for your expensive laptop computer.

If you need any form of specialist, computer insurance then don’t soley consider the cost of the premium as the cheaper policies do not ordinarily equate to comprehesive cover.

3D Computer Animation Can Now Accomplished On Your Computer

create animations

What is animation? The term actually covers a variety of different applications and genres, but the technical definition is the filming of a sequence of drawings or positions to create an illusion of motion. However, in our modern computer world, the two major categories are 2D and 3D computer animation, which until fairly recently, was a trade that normally only involved the entertainment industry. Thanks to an ever-growing desire to computerize everything within the industry, what once time took a team of animators a great deal of time using pencils, cels and paint, can now be accomplished with one individual and one computer.

The most familiar form of 2D animations can be found by watching Saturday morning cartoons with your kids, or even simpler animations every day when you surf the web. It takes on the forms of advertisements, e-cards, etc. The basic starting point for all animations is a storyboard that lays out the basic script in a visual format, much like an extra large comic strip. From that point a rough audio track of the script is created to give animators something to sync with their drawings. This form of animation uses “vector graphics,” meaning that the images are based upon mathematical equations, rather than by an array of pixels, such as in “raster graphics.”

Due to its flexibility, 3D is what most people think of when referring to computer animation, even in general terms. Although similar in some ways to 2D animations, 3D computer animation is a different process. For example, to create animations in 3D, a scene is made long before any animation starts.

What many people do not realize is that the entertainment industry and specifically motion picture applications, while possibly being the forerunners in advancing technologies, only account for a fraction of the 3D animations market. Actually, there is very little difference between computer animation and what is called traditional animation. The main difference is the tools that are used to create animations, the effort and the price. Traditional 3D animation was more like claymations, and was done by using stop-motion filming techniques. Essentially, the true concept of 3D animations did not really catch on until the use of computers for animation became more cost effective and practical.

Although the entertainment industry is largely responsible for the advances in 3D computer animation, they make up only a small part of the market that uses 3D animations. Animation designs sell products; it is also used as a teaching aide because it presents information in a more understandable way. Many animations can be created completely on a computer, but depending on the type of animation desired, such as cartoon animations, there may be the need for some hand-penciling work to be done.

Web Design Is On The Move – Are You?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: computer error messages, computer freeze up, computer hardware problems, computer monitor problems, computer problem help, computer problem solving, computer problems help, computer repair shops, computer trouble shooting, diagnosing computer problems, fix computer crash

It is intriguing to see how web development has moved on over the last few years especially. The web has turned from a niche for brochure-ware and intranets into one of the biggest software development environments in the market over just a few years. The web as a platform is a hollow dream no longer – you can now run and develop a web application without needing to host any sort of web page yourself and you can even get the data from a wide variety of other sources. Web development has created jobs around our country which is positive. Just watching the TV for five minutes these days is depressing enough – no jobs, un-employment crashes to a new high and the recession just gets deeper and deeper.

Moving web development on is a tricky business. When designing a site you now need to consider cutting edge graphic design and logo design. Simply constructing some for the web is not enough anymore, people want the full package. Unless you have a very compelling product or idea most clients will already have something in place web wise and chances are they have already spent a lot of money on it. Maintaining a website is much more common than creating something innovative. Yet in today’s modern web society just creating a site is not enough. You need to be able to get that site seen by potential customers. How do you do that? Keeping on top of web trends is understanding the logistics of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). SEO is fundamentally tweaking your website to be visible with search engines such as Google and MSN Live! If you can get your site seen by these search engines the amount of revenue and visibility you can get from these search engines is incredible and it can completely revolutionise a business’s income.

So what about the future? Well if I knew that I would be on a hot beach somewhere soaking up the sun. However what I will say is that the way some web developers deal with market forces and business people is wrong. What matters these days is how fast you can do the project and how quickly you can get it to market. This goes against what I believe in as a web designer and I think businesses should stand up and fight against these ‘quick wins’. What do you think?
