i have a toshiba laptop with windows xp, &every once in a while it does this thing where it freezes for like 2 seconds then changes to this like safe mode thing where everything is all big &with high contrast..it;s really anoying:/
is there anything i can do to make it normal again without having to restart it??
thanks so much:DD!
btw, my computer is like that right now &it's pissing me offff! >.<

Might be infected with some virus.
Try running an anti-virus scan.
If it doesn’t help, format your system. If the problem still persists, then it might be due to shortage of computer memory.. Hope this information helps!! and if it does, please mark my answer as the best one!!! :-)

How do I fix this Windows XP start problem?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: fix windows xp problems

Last week I installed Vista on my computer, but decided to return it because it was forcing my computer with its speed. After recovering my computer in accident, I lost all saved files, etc., and now when I start Windows… After the XP logo shows, this black screen comes on, asking me if I'd like to run Vista, go to memory setup, something, or run the earlier version of Windows, which is Windows XP, of course. How do I get rid of this annoying message each time my comp is restarted or turned on?

Go to control panel then double click the System icon then the advanced tab, click the settings for startup and recovery. Here click the Edit button and your boot.ini file will open the file should look something like thie

([boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect)

You need to remove any reference to Vista.

Or if you dont feal comfortable doing this then go back to the settings and modify the default Operating System to XP and set the time to display option to zero. Thats much easier and safer.

How do i Fix and Correct Disk Space Problems with Windows XP?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: fix windows xp problems

I ran into a problem with my C: & D: hard drives and Windows XP (SP1).
I just formatted and reinstalled Win98SE & then upgraded to XP. I then began to reinstall my other programs, such as virus protection. This is when I realized that my HD's we're not showing the true volume. They are both 40Gb's each, but XP is telling me that they are 19Gb & 18.6Gb… Both have FAT32 file system. When I view the properties of the drives, for example my C: drive – master, and add up the Used Space – 7.02GB + the Free Space – 11.9GB = Total Size 18.92 GB. But the properties of the drive say 19.0GB. Regardless if it doesn't add up, its still incorrect volume size. They should both be 40GB. Can anyone help me or explain what I need to do in order to fix this?
Thank you.
Ana
Here is a bit of details of my computer system:

Intel Cel 1.70Gh CPU

2 – 256K DDR Memory (32megs is shared) So I have a total of 480M of RAM

Both drives are IDE (I think) I don't think they are SATA.

Both have SMART capability's and SMART is enabled in BIOS.

I've been running XP (SP2) Pro since it first came out. I just ran into alot of problems with Virus, adware and junk that my teen son infected the home computer with. After attempting to clean it, I decided to just format and reinstall.
So, it has not been running 98 all this time.

My XP Pro is an upgrade CD that I bought back in 2002. It was running SP2 before the format plus all the automatic updates.

I just want to fix the hard drive volume issue before I download and install SP2 and all the updates…..
Thanks,
A~

reload using the ntfs file system and get sp/2
