Why does my C Drive keep filling up even when I remove programs and files from my computer? How do I fix it?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: how to fix computer

I've removed my pics, vids, and songs I don't want and Got rid of several programs on my computer that i don't use. I got Trojan before and I thought my virus scan got rid of it. Appearently It's still there. Is there any way I could fix this problem other than re-installing windows? Help!

If you are really removing your files (and not actually creating new ones knowingly) then the only possible answer – as you can imagine – would be someone/thing else is creating those files for you.

Assuming you do not share your computer with anyone, the only way this can happen is some process is creating this for you. I would recommend the following steps:

1. Make sure you do not have any virus/trojan on your machine. Some of these malwares 'download' huge lists of email addresses for sending spams to them.

2. Make sure you have your web cache and internet temp files directory size limit set to a smaller number (in Internet Explorer: Tools -> Internet Options -> General Tab, Browsing History, Settings -> Disk space).

3. If you are using your machine to do more esoteric things – compilation of code to run simulation, for example – make sure all intermediate files (.o of all the .c) are removed when they are no longer needed.
