A New Digital Photo Frame By Sony
Sony’s getting ready to bring to the marketplace a Digital Picture Frame in the next month or so, just in time for Christmas. The Sony DPF-D72N/BQ Digital Picture Frame will have a 7” LCD WVGA display, has light and pictorial colors, comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio LCD, has a remote control, has multiple playback options, and will display photos at a 800×480 resolution. You can put your pics on the provided 1GB internal memory. Sony maintains that this digital LCD frame can have 2,000 images, which is way too many for a slideshow! Which image formats does the Sony digital picture frame work with? It works with JPEG and RAW, and it is important to understand that all digital cameras have support JPEG, so rest assured that this digital frame will work with your digital camera.
It is capable to use many of the popular memory card formats and it is also capable to receive files by using a USB port. This is a compilation of all the memory card formats that the frame supports: Secure Digital (SD), xD-picture cards, Compact Flash Card Type I and Type II, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, and Multi-Media Card (MMC).
Other features are Auto Rotation and Auto Resizing, which will come in very handy. Auto Resizing automatically shrinks or magnifies your pictures for best showing, with minimal or no loss to the photo’s ratios or quality. Auto Orientation, is capable to automatically pick out if your photos must be in portrait or landscape format! With this feature you are able to set up your digital lcd frame horizontally or vertically, however, images are shown better in landscape.
And other features include a clock, calendar, and various view modes. The digital frame will cost around 150 U.S. dollars when it enters the stores.
But, there are a few features that are absent in this Sony digital picture frame, namely wireless, audio, and video. Today, even toys are going wireless, so it is hard to imagine why Sony would release a wireless-less digital picture frame.
