Computer Problems – Monitor is in power save mode activate using pc.?
The other day my dad's computer was going really slow so I restarted it. And when it the computer came back on – the monitor didn't – It was just black. And when I clicked a button on the monitor [like the + and - sign] A sign came up that said "Monitor is in power save mode activate using pc."
The things that really weird is that this is happening to our other computer also, but it's already been like that for probably almost a year. After a storm one day all the power went out and later on when me and my sister turned the computer back on, the monitor didnt come back on, and it said the same thing. My dad never looked into it though because he is too lazy, but I am hoping that now since his isn't working that he will look into both of them since they are possible having the same problem. But I was wondering if anyone any suggestiongs first.
Thank you so much, I would really appreciate it if you could help. ;D
Thank you Krisz N for your suggestions. But I forgot to mention that we thought that it was the monitor that was messing up so we went out and bought a new monitor, and this one does the same thing. So we are thinking that is the actual computer that is messing up ;l
Well without a monitor it's gonna be hard to see what you're doing.
Depending on your keyboard, it might have a power save button, or a key with a WIndows logo on it (near the Control key) which might wake up the monitor. So might the spacebar or clicking the mouse.
If this doesn't work you'll need to borrow a monitor from a friend. Then go to Control Panel, Power Management, and change the monitor settings to NOT power down. If this works you'll use a bit more power but you'll have a usable monitor. But it's probably a bigger problem.
The one that broke down in the storm was probably hit by a power surge and half died, i.e. the internal menu might still be working but the connection getting signals from the computer might be gone. The one going really slow might also have had a signal problem, so that could be half dead, too. In this case changing the power settings won't help.
New monitors are quite cheap, even the flat screen ones. Or if money is an issue most computer shops have second hand working older style ones around $50.
Get a surge guard power board to connect your computer to.
Hope this helps a little.
