how do i crash my computer to fix it?

I am having trouble with my computer one by one the programs are beginning to not work. How do I crash it so that it can be fixed or is there a better way. please help. I have windows xp and it is not working correctly either.
If you crash it, you may not boot again and then where will you be? I have had limited success with the repaire function in XP, and my advice is back up to disk and run a clean install of everything.Be aware that you will need to reinstall all programs and add-ons. Do this only if you have a legal OS and a restore disk.

The best option is to reformat your harddrive and have a fresh installation. You will need an XP Cd for this. Boot from the cd, format the drive and install again.

Err you do not need to crash it to fix it.
Try reinstalling the programs first that are not working. If that does not work, you may need to reinstall windows.

1st make sure you dont have virisus OR spyare
2ed hold F8 and hit restore to last working configeraton MAKE SURE TO BACKUP IMPORTANT FILES if that dose not work
run the system restoratinon disk if you don't have one go and by one
