how do you fix this windows xp problem?

i have a toshiba laptop with windows xp, &every once in a while it does this thing where it freezes for like 2 seconds then changes to this like safe mode thing where everything is all big &with high contrast..it;s really anoying:/
is there anything i can do to make it normal again without having to restart it??

btw, my computer is like that right now &it's pissing me offff! >.<
Might be infected with some virus.
Try running an anti-virus scan.
If it doesn’t help, format your system. If the problem still persists, then it might be due to shortage of computer memory.. Hope this information helps!! and if it does, please mark my answer as the best one!!!

Post your hardware configuration,try scanning your system for virus and spyware.
