Is Going To Sleep With A Television Set On Okay?
Depending on who you ask, you’re likely going to get a different response. Some people simply swear by the fact that they can’t fall asleep without watching TV. Others insist that doing this will keep you awake for much longer than you need to be.
But who is right? Well, no one is right actually as everyone is different but there are some things which will affect a person’s views on this.
There are some useful tips for getting yourself off to sleep while watching TV. TV could be a great method for aiding sleep if done properly.
With concern to the various ways of using the TV, there are at least three practices that should not be used, which prove ineffective. I will look into each of these and try to come up with possible solutions.
It is a very good idea to use the sleep timer. Neglecting the sleep timer will see that you either have to leave it on the entire night, which will affect your sleep, or you will eventually have to wake up and turn it off which of course will interrupt your sleep completely.
If you set the timer for a couple of hours then by that time you should be asleep already once it switches off.
Also, don’t have it up so loud that the neighbours can hear it, for obvious reasons, but also you shouldn’t have it on too low that you are having trouble to hear it yourself as you will end up lying there awake and ignoring the TV completely so you might as well not have it on at all. Try to find a volume that is somewhere in between the two that your body can relax to.
Lastly, make sure that you tune in to the right kind of programming. You want it to be something you’re interested in, but it shouldn’t be too interesting.
If it’s something you really enjoy that keeps you on the edge of your seat, there’s a good chance that you’ll stay awake for it the whole way through. Make it something good that you’re watching, but nothing great.
